Goofing off on a boring and rainy Saturday afternoon. Fiddler on the Roof was one of the first three musicals I ever saw and it was largely responsible for sparking my lifelong love of musical theater! Because of throat surgery years ago, I no longer sing or perform for more than just a couple minutes before I go completely hoarse but it's fun to try!

Holland Theatre Matinee 11/25/94

This was my final weekend owning The Holland. The video is Friday Nov 25, 1994 (the day after Thanksgiving.) The town paid for free tickets to the afternoon showing of The Lion King to anyone bringing canned goods for the local food pantry. The turn out was so big (a line around the block) that we had to do add a second showing! I can't begin to tell you how much popcorn and candy we sold.

This was recorded as a personal sentimental keepsake from the last full night of my ownership. I have put ...

I saw the cast in Baltimore and got my socks blown off by the whole cast. Afterwards my sister and I stopped by a close bar and suddenly the cast members came in to relax after the show. There were maybe 5 customers there to scared to say hello. Not me, I walked over to Ted and Carl- Jesus and Judas and said what a huge fan Me and my sister were. They introduced us to the cast members and then had drinks with us. A cherished memory. I thank God for that gift.

I got to see Ted and Carl in NYC in, I think, 1994. Carl Anderson in particular broke my heart and put it back together with every song, though not always in that order. His performance that night is still my all time favorite of any performer in any live show I've ever seen. Listening to this recording is giving me chills. Surely he was one of the greatest voices of his generation.

When the original came out i was 7-8 years old and now every time i hear "Superstar" i sing the song we all sang as kids in the school yard: "Jesus Christ Superstar Burnin' down the corner in a motorcar. "Cops come up, we don't care, we got bullet proof underwear". Aahh good times as a kids. Yah can never get it back.

John Morris Conti: THANK YOU for sharing this audio; brings back such fond memories of seeing this A.D. tour multiple times. Truly love many of the refreshed orchestrations & tempos for this production. Ted, naturally, delivers in all expected spots. I'm reminded just how rock solid Christine Rea was; her hefty voice always filled the house. The biggest gift here is Carl. It's like hearing the score for the first time. The way he navigates the phrases...the nuance & layers of his instrument... a flawless execution that is, frankly, hard to describe... it all just elevates the entire experience. Heaven.

I'm not really a big fan of this VERY low bassy Caiaphas idea. I think that, when they pick their Caiaphas for the plays, they priorize bass, but to my ears, all this excessive bass makes the singer's voice lose personality. Take Bob Bingham (from the 1973 movie) for example, his voice is bassy, but he still sounds distinct, when I listen to him, I can still say "Hey, Bob Bingham is sounding great here!" even with only audio. But this Caiaphas here sounds like any other Caiphas they chose because of their very low register.

Yes! Back then, the crucifixion was jaw dropping theater!!! He was on a cross and then as John 1941 starts playing, he revives and suspended by wires that were barely visible he floats about 2 feet out in front of the cross and then very slowly with arms spread wide he looks down at his followers gathered below and rises up and out of sight. It was truly a stunning and moving ending!
